O. Babanov: Kyrgyzstan, definitely, must be a member of the Customs Union
Bishkek, January 31 / Kabar /. "We consider that, definitely, our country must become a member of the Customs Union", Kyrgyz Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov said at a press news conference in Bishkek.
"But the conditions of accession of Kyrgyzstan should be discussed by members of the Customs Union", said O. Babanov.
He said that certain sectors of the Kyrgyz economy require a grace period in joining the Customs Union. "Everyone knows perfectly well that the service sector in Kyrgyzstan involves a large number of people, especially in trade. In case of entering the CU we will need to toughen laws. This may affect this sphere", said the Prime Minister.
He noted that during the negotiations of the working group on Kyrgyzstan’s entering the CU the issue of granting preferences to the country will be discussed. "We clearly understand how many people can suffer losses", O. Babanov said.
