Kyrgyzstan will export meat to Saudi Arabia

Bishkek, May 29 / Kabar /. Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Kyrgyzstan Askarbek Janybekov met with representatives of the international company "Labon Food" from Saudi Arabia, accompanied by Kyrgyz Ambassador to Saudi Arabia J. Jeenbekov.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, the aim of the visit of the delegation to the republic was to study agricultural sector for determination for further cooperation.

During the meeting the sides discussed the main directions of cooperation. The Agriculture Ministry presented investment projects of Kyrgyzstan in the field of animal husbandry.

"To create conditions for development of export of livestock the Ministry intends to establish two logistics centers in the northern and southern regions of the country in which the meat-processing facilities will be built for export. These centers would be located near the airport of Bishkek and Osh. The country has more than 9 million hectares of pasture and favorable environment for development of animal husbandry. Farmers need investments in this industry, in case of availability of funds, they could develop their farms. This would help to increase the export potential of the republic", said A. Janybekov.
Ibrahim bin Mansour Al Saghir said that they are interested first of all in lambs. "In future it will be possible to export beef and poultry meat. We import sheep from Iran, but yesterday we saw the same sheep here, and then, these sheep are not Iranian, but Kyrgyz. We can work directly excluding Iran", the investor said.

At the end of the meeting the sides agreed on cooperation in the field of sheep and to establish a working group that will work over these issues.
