Mass dehelmintization of population starts in Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek, April 12 / Kabar /. Free mass dehelmintization of schoolchildren of primary schools and children in boarding schools, together with the maintenance staff starts in Kyrgyzstan, April 12-13. The press center of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.
It is planned to involve more than 400,000 children in frames of this action.
"In the structure of infectious morbidity of population (excluding influenza and acute respiratory disease), the proportion of parasitic diseases makes more than 35%. In 2008 the Ministry of Health of the KR conducted an examination in primary school children of the republic, the result shows that more than 51% of pupils are affected enterobiasis, 40 % ascariasis and 9% other parasites", the press center reports.
After two rounds of dehelmintization infestation of population has decreased from 30% to 6%.
The reasons for the growth of infestation are: lack of access to clean drinking water, low hygiene practices, lack of use of anthelminthic drugs, food contamination by helminth eggs, lack of conditions for personal hygiene in preschool establishments.
