Hunger strike in Kyrgyzstan’s prisons ended
Bishkek, December 19 / Kabar /.Hunger strike in Kyrgyzstan’s prisons ended on December 16. Ombudsman Tursunbek Akun told at a press conference at the Kabar Agency.
He said that within a few days by representatives of the Ombudsman Institute met with inmates of correctional facilities and detention centers. "The chairman of GSIN ordered to prohibit prisoners visits from outsiders by Article 61 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. This infuriated convicts, they think that this is very strict measure. They demanded abolition of the order of head of GSIN", said T. Akun.
He said that he met with head of GSIN and he agreed to cancel the order.
Tursunbek Akun added that the inmates of correctional institutions in Kyrgyzstan gave 2 weeks to solve their problems.
Recall that inmates of seven penal colonies and two detention centers in Kyrgyzstan declared hunger strike on December 13. Convicted demanded to improve living conditions, feeding and allow visits of relatives and other persons.
