The State Committee on National Security about details of the incident on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border, where Kyrgyz border guard was killed
Bishkek, July 18 / Kabar /. A Kyrgyz border guard as killed in an incident between Kyrgyz and Uzbek border guards at Bulak-Bashi village of Jalal-Abad oblast, which is on Kyrgyz-Uzbek border.
The Department of Public Relations and Media of Frontier Forces reports that, on July 17 road repair works were started on Koktash-Bulak-Bashi highway. The repair works involved workers of "Kazakhmys" mining company as well as residents of the village Bulak-Bashi.
Border guards of Koktash frontier post carried out explanatory work with local residents that the repairs of the road in this undemarcated area of the border are not acceptable. In spite of this, local residents continued to conduct repairs.
Later Uzbek border guards arrived in this area requiring stopping repair works. However, residents of the village Bulak-Bashi aggressively responded to the demands of the Uzbek side.
As a result, border guards of Uzbekistan open fire, Kyrgyz guards returned fire.
As a result of shooting a soldier of Kyrgyz Border Troops died. According to preliminary data, two Kyrgyz citizens were shot, there are victims among Uzbek border guards too.
Leaders of the border agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan held telephone talks and agreed on peaceful resolution of the incident.
