Bishkek, April 24 / Kabar /. On April 18, 2012 Kyrgyzstan's Chairmanship of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation came to the end.
According to the OSCE Secretariat and the Permanent Mission of the OSCE participating states in Vienna, Kyrgyzstan has successfully coped with the functions of chairman of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation. The work of the Kyrgyz side is considered by delegations as an important and successful contribution of the country to the process of strengthening European security as well as its desire for closer and more responsible work in OSCE. The Kyrgyz diplomacy showed its professionalism and confirmed its willingness to be conscientious, responsible and equal member of the OSCE process.
The FSC Chairmanship rotates three times a year. The Chairmanship takes the lead in setting the agenda for each meeting and brings attention to issues concerning the implementation of commitments adopted by the Forum. The FSC Chairperson is assisted by the incoming and the outgoing Chairperson, who together form the FSC Troika.
The second Chairmanship in 2012 after Kyrgyzstan will be held by Latvia, followed by the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The three successive Chairmanships each year jointly develop the Tentative Annual Working Programme of the FSC.
The Forum for Security Cooperation (FSC) is one of the major legislative bodies of the OSCE acting on a regular basis. It was created to focus on the politico-military aspects of security, through negotiation and consultation on issues of military security and stability in the CSCE region.
