President Atambaev: "My task is to protect strategic interests of Kyrgyzstan"
Bishkek, May 3 / Kabar /. "My task is to protect strategic interests of Kyrgyzstan", President Almazbek Atambaev said in interview with leading TV channels of the republic concerning the future of the torpedo factory "Dastan" and Russia’s equity participation in it.
He said that, in 2009 an agreement was signed between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. "We had agreed with President Dmitry Medvedev to fulfill agreement reached earlier. We are strategic partners. And my task is to protect the strategic interests of Kyrgyzstan. I think that after President of Russia - Vladimir Putin assumes his office, all of these questions, God willing, we will decide", said A. Atambaev.
The agreement signed in 2009 meant writing off the debt of Kyrgyzstan to Russia by transferring 48% of shares of “Dastan” and a building for trade mission of the Russian Federation in Bishkek.
