Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed situation in Afghanistan with U.S Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense
Bishkek, May 21 / Kabar /. During his working visit to the United States to attend the NATO Summit, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbayev met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense David Sedney.
During the meeting the sides discussed the items included on the agenda of the Summit. D. Sedney noted that the U.S. and other NATO countries attach great importance to the participation of representatives of the Central Asian countries in the Summit, as the main topic will be cooperation on security in Afghanistan.
D. Sedney briefed the Kyrgyz Minister about the current situation in Afghanistan in the field of security and NATO's plans for its maintenance in the near future.
The sides also discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in military-technical sphere. The U.S. side emphasized its readiness to assist Kyrgyzstan in combating terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.
