State of emergency declared in southern Kyrgyzstan
KABAR, June 11. The Interior Ministry of Kyrgyzstan interim government on Friday declared a state of emergency in the southern city of Osh due to the turmoil there.
Armored vehicles have also been sent in to stabilize the situation after hundreds of youths smashed windows, looted shops and set fire to cars in the city.
Roza Otunbayeva, leader of the interim government, declared a curfew in Osh and the region around between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. local time.
