Kyrgyz delegation took part in the Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan

Bishkek, July 10 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz delegation headed by Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the KR Avazbek Atakhanov took part in the Second Tokyo International Conference on Afghanistan, attended by representatives of 56 countries and 25 international organizations.

According to the information of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the main purpose of the meeting was the adoption of the "road map" of long-term partnership of Afghanistan and the international community on sustainable development during the ten-year period from 2015 to 2024 after the withdrawal of coalition troops in 2014. The conference adopted the Tokyo Declaration, which recognized the political agreement between Afghanistan and the international community about the long-term strategy of economic development, improving public administration, reforming the electoral system, to improve anti-corruption policies and to support these activities by the international community. 

At the conference, Japan announced the readiness to allocate assistance to Afghanistan amounting to three billion dollars over five years for socio-economic development and strengthening of national security. In general, international donors intend to provide assistance to Afghanistan amounting to $ 16 billion till 2015.

Head of the Kyrgyz delegation A. Atahanov in his speech noted the active participation of Kyrgyzstan in implementation of regional projects in energy and transport sectors and expressed readiness of the republic for further promotion of assistance programs for the development of Afghanistan.
