Former President of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva awarded France's highest award

Bishkek, July 16 / Kabar /. For outstanding achievements in protection of democracy and human rights by the decree of the President of France dated April 20, 2012 Former President of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva was awarded the France's highest award - Legion of Honor with commander title. The press service of the International Public Foundation "Initiative of Roza Otunbayeva" reports. 

The French Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Thibault Fourrier’s letter to Roza Otunbayeva says: "The award is the recognition of the French state of Your brave and decisive action in the reign of the Kyrgyz state during the transition period, which was full of hardship and tragic events. Despite these circumstances, You have always shown your strong decisiveness, especially in protection of democracy and respect for human rights". 

The Legion of Honor is the French National Order was established by Napoleon Bonaparte on May 19, 1802 as equivalent of knights’ orders.
