U.S. supports debate tournament on “Access to Quality Higher and Vocational Education”
Bishkek, January 17 / Kabar/. The United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development’s Education Loan Program, organized the Second Annual Republican Debate Tournament on “Access to Quality Higher and Vocational Education,” which brought together 50 teams of students from universities from every region of Kyrgyzstan. The tournament was held in the American University of Central Asia, in Bishkek, January 14-15. The U.S. Embassy in Bishkek reports.
With increased concerns about access to and costs for education among youth and their parents, the debate tournament created an open platform for discussion on access to quality higher and vocational education, choosing a profession, career opportunities for youth, supporting young specialists, creating jobs, and employment for jobless youth.
Students also discussed effective models for university career centers, internship programs, possibilities for collaboration between universities and business communities, and the former’s role as a supplier of human resources, as well as opportunities for equal access to quality higher and vocational education through favorable educational loans available on the financial market.
