Kyrgyz language is not included in UNESCO’s list of endangered languages, vice rector of KNU
Bishkek, April 23 / Kabar /. "The Kyrgyz language is not included in the UNESCO’s list of endangered languages", rector of the Kyrgyz National University Umut Kultaeva aid at a meeting of the Committee of Jogorku Kenesh for Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
She said that, the UNESCO’s list includes the language of Chinese Kyrgyz, and the statement of MP Urmat Amanbaeva that the state language is critically endangered is not true. "To include the language into the list of endangered languages of UNESCO, only about 100 thousand people should speak in this language, at that 70% of children should not know this language at all", explained U. Kultaeva.
