Bishkek, July 17 / Kabar /. The Kyrgyz Government intends to apply the method of selective assistance to reduce poverty. Finance Minister Akylbek Japarov said today at a press conference “Implementation of new initiatives of the Government of the KR".
He said that, currently 131 thousand families in Kyrgyzstan live below the poverty line. 270 thousand families are poor, the middle class include 724 thousand families, rich – 120 families. "The most ideal conditions are created for the rich people. They get all the benefits. At the same time the poor people have to pay for everything themselves. We need to make a new effective policy, which is called the "selective assistance". That is, we will help only the poor", said A. Japarov.
He told that local authorities are already instructed to identify the poor and those families living below the poverty line.
